Who is electri-fire

Who is electri-fire?

And does he even know this himself?

He seems to be a dentist/acupuncturist/thinker/tinkerer/musician/huomo universalis, working playing loving and living in Breda, the Netherlands.

Why this website?

a) to boost his ego.
b) to contribute to the art of circuitbending.
c) to make loads of money, but the fool doesn't seem to be able to finish one single project. He is convinced one day he will finish it all.

Electri-fire does not belong to a 'scene' , has no cool looking hairdo , does not have strong political urges or convictions (other than: they obscure the thought). Most of his friends have jobs and families. His songwriting partner Richard van Bemmelen likes Paul mCartney. (this should probably be kept a sectret haha...)

Electri-fire has not recorded his music since 1995. He usually hears of interesting playing opportunities too late, he refuses to  make demos, does not spit at his equipment, does not have a technical staff at MIT or STEIM to fix his controllers or program his software.

So the chances of being taken seriously as an electronic music improviser are remote.

Still, electri-fire likes to be invited.

His musical background

At age 14 Marina taught him to play his first song (what shall we do with the drunken sailor, Em D) on the guitar.
He took up playing the drums at age 16, until he was forced to sell the drumkit due to lack of space.
Later, from 1980's he played guitar in several bands, but hasn't had more than 3 gigs with any of them.
After again being kicked out of a band for not being able to repeat the same arrangement at rehearsals or forgetting the chords he decided to dedicate himself to improvised music and short running projects.

He has been a member of the KROV theater group for eight years, acting, making sounds both live and on cassette, building decors, doing whatever needed in this small ensemble.

He has occupied himself with computerised music since his first Atari 520, his favorite software being David Zicarelli's M.
Due to his chaotic mind he has abandoned the computer for music making years ago, electri-fire prefers hardware.

His love for sonic textures, filters and use of delays and delay loopers reflects his vision on the aural cyclic nature of creation.

When building circuitbent instruments his focus is on realtime control.

Ongoing interests:  consiousness, creation, the sonic nature of the universe, therapeutic effects of frequencies, acupuncture, homeopathy, linguistics, etymologie, human paleontology, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.
